The Upright Basement Music Team

Upright Basement Music was started way back in 2002 in Boston, Massachusetts.  My partner at the time and I, who now has music up on our music page on uprightbasementmusic.com, started this label/network by working with many musicians and recording numerous bands.  Also, a lot of these bands we supported live by running and recording sound.   The goal was to tie it all together with a company that specialized in all aspects of music production and creating.  From playing the instrument, to recording it in the studio, to ensuring that a band's sound was on point at a show.   We began to become additions to the bands we worked with, once they realized how important it was to have a good sound team on their side.  

The number of bands began to grow as musicians came and went and new bands were formed.   Most of the musicians involved with Upright Basement Music are friends and have collaborated with each other musically at some point throughout Upright Basement Music's history. 

After my partner and I ended up in different cities I continued to grow the Upright Basement Music team.  At this point I was focusing on producing beats/riddims for vocalists to sing over.  A lot of the bands I worked with had moved to NYC or LA and I filled the gap in Boston by creating my own music, which has now turned into the Dub Easy sound.  Through several reggae bands,  mainly The New Souls and Royal Sound, I began networking with more vocalists and presenting my music to them.  Ny-Jah aka Natural Youth was one of the first vocalists I started working with and catering my beats and sound to his vibes.  After a while several of his peers were brought in and that created a group of 5 jamaican vocalists called The Garrisun Famally.  Each of the 5 vocalists,  Ny-Jah, Tana Blacks, Silva Duss, D!Arryval, and Toasta aka I-Vision, began working together creating collaborations over Dub Easy productions.  Also each of the afore mentioned artists has full solo albums worth of material over Dub Easy music.   After creating a buzz around boston were half a dozen small radio stations frequently play Dub Easy and The Garrisun Famally tunes out of the Boston area.  I began working with upwards of 17 vocalists working on their projects as well as collaborating on more Dub Easy productions. It was all about making music and then the task of spreading it the the people came and I found it time to move from Boston to Los Angeles. 

Since in LA, Upright Basement Music has been focusing on ways to bring more finances to our network so we can create even more music full time for You.  The Garrisun Famally has made it out to LA to finish some projects and play at a CD release concert for our fellow producer on Upright Basement Music, Danger Deluxxe, who released his debut album Tableau 7 last august.  Also several of my original music partners and musician friends reside in LA still so we have re connected and are all continuing to grow within the music industry.

Now the main focus of Upright Basement Music is taking all of the material we have and getting it to you guys.  Even though we do have free downloads and streaming music of most mixes.  We are in the process of making everything official,  still providing a ton of free music but now even easier to get the newest albums from major retailers.
